Alois Jeitteles
Alois Isidor Jeitteles (born June 20, 1794 in Brno , † April 16, 1858 ibid) was an Austrian physician , journalist and writer .
Life
Jeitteles studied in Prague and Brno philosophy and in Vienna medicine . In 1819 he received his doctorate and established himself as a general practitioner in Brno. He published numerous poems in the paperbacks Selam (1812-1817) and Aglaja (1815-1832). In 1818 he founded the Jewish weekly magazine Siona together with his cousin Ignaz Jeitteles . In the same year he wrote a parody of the fate tragedy with Ignaz Franz Castelli entitled Der Schicksalsstrumpf . In 1848 he became editor of the Brünner Zeitung and held this position until his death.
One of his poems is the song cycle An die ferne Geliebte , which Ludwig van Beethoven set to music in 1816 . The text was probably commissioned by Prince Joseph von Lobkowitz , to whom the work is dedicated, and did not appear separately in print.
For Beethoven's death he wrote the poem Beethoven's funeral . Jeitteles also emerged as a translator, including the Spanish comedy The Power of the Blood by Agustín Moreto and pieces from the French.
His daughter was the suffragette Ottilie Bondy (1832-1921).
