Alphons hoarding
Alphons Horten (born November 9, 1907 in Metz-Sablon , Lorraine ; † December 1, 2003 in Zurich , Switzerland ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
Alphons Horten was the son of the Bergassessors Franz Carl Alphons Horten, nephew of the religious Titus Maria and Timotheus Maria Horten, as well as the orientalist Max Horten and cousin of Helmut Horten . After graduating from high school, Horten studied economics in Berlin for several semesters . He then took up a commercial activity and worked from 1930 to 1945 in a company in the food industry. After the Second World War he fled the Soviet occupation zone , moved to West Germany and settled in Bad Godesberglow. Later he was managing partner of the company J. Weck & Co. , manufacturer of the famous Weck preserving jars , based in Bonn - Duisdorf . The daughter of Alphons Horten and his wife Elisabeth (née Sentrup), Mechtild, married the publisher Hermann Herder in 1960 .
Political party
Horten joined the CDU after 1945. He was a co-founder of the CDU Economic Council and at times its executive chairman. He was also a board member of the Christian Democrats' Economic Policy Committee.
MP
Horten was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1972. In parliament he represented the constituency of Rheydt - Grevenbroich II . Here he was particularly committed to business interests.
