Alphonse Albert "Frenchy" Lacroix (born October 21, 1897 in Newton , Massachusetts , † April 12, 1973 in Lewiston , Maine ) was an American ice hockey goalkeeper who worked for the Canadiens de Montréal from 1914 to 1931, among others played in the National Hockey League .
Career
Alphonse Lacroix began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at Newton High School, for whose team he was active from 1914 to 1917. The goalkeeper then played in the amateur field - first for two years for the Boston Navy Yard and then for six years for the Boston AA Unicorns. On November 10, 1925 he received a contract as a free agent with the Canadiens de Montréal , for which he stood in the 1925/26 season in a total of five games in the National Hockey League between the posts, of which he lost only one in four could win with his team. In the following season he was still under contract in Montréal, but remained as a substitute goalkeeper without use.
The 1927/28 season began Lacroix with the Providence Reds in the Canadian-American Hockey League . In four games, however, he could not fully convince, which is why he left the club early and spent the following year and a half at the Lewiston St. Doms in the semi-professional NEHL, before he returned to the Providence Reds in the CAHL for the 1929/30 season completed, but was only used in one game. Following the 1930/31 season , in which he was under contract with the CAHL team Boston Tigers , he ended his career at the age of 32.
International
For the USA Lacroix took part in the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix , where he and his team won the silver medal.
