Alpine is a civil parish in Talladega County in the state of Alabama in the United States .
geography
Alpine is located in eastern Alabama in the southern United States. It is located about 10 kilometers west of the 1,590 square kilometer Talladega National Forest and 10 kilometers east of the 451 kilometer long Coosa River , which merges into the Alabama River at Montgomery and finally flows as the Mobile River into Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico .
Nearby places include Childersburg (8 km southwest), Talladega (8 km northeast), Vincent (10 km west) and Harpersville (14 km west). The next larger city with 212,000 inhabitants is about 50 kilometers northwest of Birmingham .
history
The place was named after a plantation that was built here by the Welch family in 1858. When a railway line was built near the plantation, a village developed around the plantation. The Welch family owned the plantation until 1970.

Alpine is close to Alabama State Routes 21 , 76, and 235 . US Highway 231 runs 11 kilometers to the southwest, and here in parts it runs on the same route as Alabama State Routes 38 and 53 .
