The boat was on 7 June 1993 at the shipyard Socarenam in Boulogne-sur-Mer on down keel , as the second of three locally built units of Antares class. The launch took place on November 15, 1993, the commissioning on July 9, 1994. Sister ships are the Antarès and the Aldébaran . All three are stationed in Brest .
At 28.30 m long, 7.70 m wide and 3.80 m draft , the silhouette of the boat, which resembles a fishing cutter, displaces 250 tonnes (standard) or 340 t maximum. A type 12 P15-2SR diesel engine from Moteur Baudouin with 800 hp (590 kW) and a propeller allow a speed of 11 knots . The range is 3500 nautical miles at 10 knots cruising speed. The boat is equipped with a bow thruster of 100 hp. For mine defense work, it has two mine-hunting tow sonars of the type DUBM 41 B, a tow winch with three drums (1 × 400 m and 2 × 685 m), an electric winch with three drums (1 × 400 m and 2 × 350 m) , two Hydro Armor 4T500 hydraulic cranes . The boat also has two AMGC type inflatable boats . The armament consists of a 12.7 mm machine gun , the crew of 23-27 men.
tasks
The boat is designed for mine hunting and can use its sonar to track mines down to a depth of 80 m or to drag clearing equipment. When it is not in mine hunting, it is used as a navigation training ship.
