history

Finds in the area of the village show that people lived here as early as the Middle Neolithic . Altreetz was first mentioned in documents in 1339. In the 16th century the place was owned by the sovereign. During the Thirty Years War in 1641 the village was looted and burned down. On April 7, 1824, there was a fire in the village, with the church and buildings in the center of the village burned down. The center was then redistributed. The village church was consecrated in 1828.

In the 19th century the village grew, so from 1844 there was a cattle market every year, from 1843 there was a pharmacy and from 1857 a doctor's office. The road Wriezen - Zollbrücke and the construction of the railway line Wriezen - Jädickendorf brought further growth . In 1920 the village was electrified.

After the founding of the GDR , the place was expanded into a rural center. In 1956 a country warehouse and in 1957 a country outpatient clinic were built. In 1961 the place became the seat of a polytechnic high school . In 1955 the LPG "Future" and in 1960 the LPG "Einheit" were founded.

In 2005 there were 441 people living in Altreetz.
