Coordinates: 56 ° 54 ' N , 14 ° 33' O Alvesta is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province Kronobergs Lan and the historic province Småland . The main town of the municipality is Alvesta .
The railway lines Stockholm - Malmö and Göteborg - Växjö - Kalmar , which cross each other in the capital, as well as the national roads 23 and 25 run through the municipality .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern Swedish highlands and stretches from north to south along the Stråken – Salen – Åsnen lake system , which is connected by tributaries of the Mörrumsån river . About 70% of the municipal area is covered by forest, in the north predominantly coniferous forest, in the south mainly mixed forest.
