Alysha Burnett (born January 4, 1997 in Wahroonga ) is an Australian heptathlete and high jumper .

Athletic career

Alysha Burnett played her first competition at international championships in 2013 at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she finished fifth in the heptathlon with 5505 points. In 2016 she reached 15th place at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz with 5,416 points and the following year she won the silver medal behind Austrian Verena Preiner at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with 5,835 points . In 2018, she finished ninth at the Commonwealth Games in her native Gold Coast with 5628 points. In 2019 she won the silver medal in the high jump behind the New Zealander Josephine Reeves at the Oceania Championships in Townsville with a jump of 1.86 m . In addition, she had to end the heptathlon on the first day. She then took part again in the Student World Games in Naples , where she finished fourth with a height of 1.88 m.

In 2017 Burnett became the Australian heptathlon champion. She graduated from the Australian Catholic University with a degree in Sports Science .
