Location and description

Am Heister is in the north of Vohwinkel on the Düssel, directly on the city limits to Mettmann and Wülfrath . Neighboring places are Überzurbeck , Scheidt and Dörnen in Wülfrath, Zum Löh , Buschdelle , Böck and Heresbach in Mettmann and Schmalefeld , Meißwinkel , Heistersfeld and Hahnenfurth in Wuppertal.

The Düsseldorf-Derendorf-Dortmund Süd railway line passes by.

Etymology and history

Heister is the name for a young tree that was later also used for beech and oak .

Peter Silberberg sen. from Hof ​​Silberberg in Wülfrath was married to Margareta Lang (1658 to approx. 1720), through the death of his father-in-law Silberberg came to Hof Heister. In December 1687, Peter Silberberg jun., Who later became mayor of Elberfeld (1741), was born here.

The farm is listed as a Heister on the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715. In the 19th century, Am Heister was a residential area in the rural community of Unterdüssel of the mayor's office Wülfrath , which emerged from the Bergisch Honschaft Unterdüssel .
