Amaël Moinard (born February 2, 1982 in Cherbourg ) is a former French cyclist .

Athletic career

Amaël Moinard drove as a trainee with the French ProTeam Cofidis in 2004 and received a regular contract there the following year. In 2006 he took part in the Giro d'Italia for the first time and was 112th overall. By the end of the 2018 season he started with a total of 16 Grand Tours . His best place was the 14th place in the Tour de France 2008 , which he was second-best French behind Sandy Casar in the overall classification; at the Giro d'Italia 2015 he finished 15th. In 2010 he won the mountain classification and a stage near Paris-Nice .

In 2011 Moinard joined the BMC Racing Team . In 2014 he won the Tour du Haut-Var on the last stage in Draguignan . With BMC he won the team time trial at the Vuelta a España 2015 .

For the 2018 season, Moinard received a contract at the Fortuneo Oscaro after seven years at BMC . In October 2019, the then 37-year-old declared his active time over.
