Amado Palacios (born February 12, 1941 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of goalkeeper . He received his nickname Tarzán from then coach Jorge Marik at Cruz Azul because of his jumping ability.
Life
Palacios received his first contract in 1957 with Club Necaxa , where he did not get beyond the role of a reservist. With the prospect of playing in the premier league , he accepted the offer from the promoted team from 1964, Cruz Azul, from the small town of Jasso in the state of Hidalgo .
After winning the championship with Cruz Azul in the 1968/69 season, "Tarzán" Palacios moved to the capital club America , with whom he won another championship in the 1970/71 season and three years later the Copa México . During his time with the Americanistas , he also made the leap to the national team and played two international matches against Jamaica (2-0) and Costa Rica (0-2) in the 1969 CONCACAF Nations Cup at the end of November 1969 .
At the end of the 1973/74 season , Amado Palacios was to be sold to the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz . He had already moved into his quarters in the port city of Veracruz when there were disagreements between the two clubs, which meant that Palacios could not be used at all in the 1974/75 season.
He spent the 1975/76 season in the service of Atlético Potosino and then ended his active career with the Cañeros de Zacatepec .
After his career as a footballer, he opened a pastry shop in Mexico City.

In the book La Historia Azul: 40 años en Primera división (1964-2004) , Palacios is only listed in the Cruz Azul squad from the 1965/66 season.
