Amargadhi ( Nepali अमरगढी ) is a city ( municipality ) in the far west of Nepal in the Dadeldhura district in the Sudurpashchim province .

Amargadhi is located in the mountains of the Front Himalayas . The urban area covers 139 km². The administrative seat of the district Dadeldhura is in Amargadhi.

The city was named after the Gorkha general Amar Singh Thapa , who fought against the English in the Gurkha War .

Residents

At the 2011 census, the city of Amargadhi had 21,245 inhabitants (10,003 male) in 4,778 households.
