Amazonia - Kopfjagd im Regenwald (original title: Schiave bianche, violenza profonda ) is a cannibal film from 1985 that is close to the exploitation genre . Mario Gariazzo directed this production under the pseudonym Roy Garrett . Alternative titles are Cannibal Holocaust 2 and Amazonia - The Katherine Miles Story .

As is customary in other genre films, Gariazzo staged his work in a seemingly realistic documentation style. The film is about a woman, Catherine Miles, who tells a British journalist her life story of the violent abduction by Indians in the Amazon region, as well as of her flight and her revenge on those responsible.

action

The blonde Catherine Miles, who lives safely in a boarding school in London, visits her wealthy parents in the Brazilian Amazon on her 18th birthday . Shortly after her arrival, she is greeted by family members and two impoverished relatives, her aunt María and her seedy husband José. Her uncle had once lost all his belongings in dubious speculative transactions and has since worked as a manager on the Miles plantation, which he hopes to inherit one day. Following a suggestion from José, Catherine goes on a boat trip with her parents to picnic in a barely explored region of the Amazon . The luxurious houseboat is attacked by strangers who kill their parents with poison arrows, but only stun Catherine. When the young woman regains consciousness, she is surrounded by Indians around their leader Umukai, who saves her in the middle of the wilderness. Their rescuers behead their dead parents in the presence of the shocked girl, leave their lifeless bodies and wander with the severed trophies to their remote jungle village.

When Catherine arrives in the tribal village of the headhunters , an ordeal begins. The white woman, in whom several men show interest, is publicly humiliated and, despite the intervention of Umukai, placed at the side of an elderly Indian. Mistreatment of the village community ensues until the handsome fighter Umukai succeeds in defeating her hated tormentor in a fatal duel. Thereupon the amorous warrior secures the marriage-like privilege of Catherine. However, the prisoner cannot return the sympathy shown to her, since she mistakenly makes the Indian jointly responsible for the murder of her parents and therefore only feels disgust and disgust.

Gradually, as a respected tribe member, she adapts to village life, laboriously learns their language and thus comes to terms with the locals, since an escape initially seems hopeless. Still, she plans to avenge the death of her parents, while Umukai patiently and trustingly woos her favor. After several months among the natives, Catherine finally learns that her parents were killed not by the Indians, but by hired criminals acting on behalf of their greedy relatives. Umukai witnessed this attack at the time, but was only able to save Catherine. She reconciles with Umukai - the beginning of a short, passionate love affair.

In search of the murderers of her parents, the avenger goes to her parents' estate at the end of the film, where she finds her aunt María and her uncle José and poisons them in cold blood and then decapitates them. Due to the strict laws of the Indian tribe, however, she cannot stay with Umukai and his clan, so she voluntarily surrenders to the authorities. She is sentenced to eight years in a psychiatric clinic because of her reduced sanity. At the end of the film, the now married mother of a toddler in civilization longs for the great love of her life - Umukai.
