Ambesse Tolosa

Ambesse Tolosa (also: Ambesse Tolossa ; born September 13, 1977 in Shewa ) is an Ethiopian marathon runner .

In 1998 he won the Hokkaidō marathon with the current course record of 2:10:13 h. At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville, he finished 13th. In his other world championships he came in at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis and at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki in 19th place and at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka 38.

In 2004 he won the Paris marathon in 2:08:56 h and finished 15th in the marathon of the Olympic Games in Athens .

His most successful year was in 2006 when he won the Tokyo International Men's Marathon , the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego, and the Honolulu Marathon .

In 2007 he crossed the finish line first again in Honolulu, but was disqualified when a doping test found morphine . Runner-up Jimmy Muindi was declared the winner, while Tolosa was suspended for two years for doping .
