history
The first mention of the place is in a Salbuch from 1374 as Anchingesesse . After further mentions (Enchingeseßin 1433; Henchengesessen 1435; Enchingesesse 1441; Eynychengesess 1521; Engessgesess 1577) an Enchesgesesser Mohle (mill) is mentioned for the first time in 1630 , which was in operation until 1983. From 1645 a form of Amenlosen is mentioned for the first time next to Henchesgeseß , in 1727 Amelossa . According to another source, the name Amelose is said to have been formed from the names Amalie and Luise, a countess at the time. The Amalie mine , in which copper ore was mined, ensured a boom in the village.
