Location of Wolfgruben in Dautphetal
|
|
Wolfgruben is a district of the municipality of Dautphetal in the central Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf . It is the most north-westerly part of the municipality and has grown together with Dautphe , the main town of the municipality, via the Wilhelmshütte industrial estate .
Geographical location
The village of Wolfgruben is located on a right, western lower terrace of the Lahn valley and on the slopes of a side valley that flows into it here. Wolfgruben is located about 5 km south of the former district town of Biedenkopf and about 17 km northwest of the regional center of Marburg . The federal highway 453 runs through the village from Biedenkopf to Gladenbach . The district is mainly in the natural areas of Oberes Lahntal and Breidenbacher Grund and covers an area of 214 hectares, of which 85 hectares are wooded at high altitudes (status: 1961). The highest elevations are the Beilstein with 461 m and Das Roth with 378 m, while the highest point is around 500 m and represents the eastern foothills of the Nimerich .
The old town center is located southwest of the federal highway 453 at a height of about 257 m and nestles perpendicular to today's main settlement axis on the northern slope of the Roths . It roughly comprises the streets Haselheide , Am Roten Weg and Bornwiese . With the construction of the road from Biedenkopf via Gladenbach and the Zollbuche to Gießen and Wilhelmshütte , the development of the settlement shifted along the 'old road' .
history
The existence of Wolfgruben can be documented since 1299. In 1465 it belonged to the Biedenkopf office , first in the Landgraviate of Hesse , later in the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt and then in the Grand Duchy of Hesse .
The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Wolfgruben in 1830:
"Wolfgruben (L. Bez. Battenberg) evangel. Branch village; is located on the Lahn, as well as on the Chaussee from Biedenkopf to Giessen and 4 St. from Battenberg. The place has 30 houses and 138 inhabitants, who are Protestant except for one Catholic. Wolfgruben probably belonged to the church area of Dautphe in the 15th century. "
Since 1867 Wolfgruben was a municipality in the Biedenkopf district in the Hesse-Nassau province of the Kingdom of Prussia .
Territorial reform
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the Wolfgruben community was merged by law with 11 other communities on July 1, 1974 to form the new large community of Dautphetal in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. For Wolfgruben, as for all districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
