American Manufacturing Council
The American Manufacturing Council was a body that advised US President Donald Trump on industrial issues.
Trump made job losses in industrial areas a focus of his campaign and promised to bring back jobs lost abroad. The body should give Trump technical advice on increasing economic growth. The first joint meeting took place on January 30, 2017. The members were top-class managers, mostly CEOs (chief executives) of large companies. The initial 28 members included three women and one African American.
After several resignations related to Trump's response to the violent riot in Charlottesville, Trump said on Aug. 15, “For every CEO who steps down from the Manufacturing Council, I have many to take their place. Show-offs shouldn't have participated. ”A day later, Trump announced the dissolution of the American Manufacturing Council:“ Instead of putting pressure on the economists in the Manufacturing Council and in the Strategy & Policy Forum, I'm quitting both of them. I thank all of you!"
