Ammonium iron (II) sulfate (formerly also Mohr 's salt ) is the sulfate of ammonium and iron , it forms water-soluble, light green monoclinic crystals. It is usually available commercially as ammonium iron (II) sulfate hexahydrate with six molecules of crystal water . It is a double salt from the group of Tutton salts .
use
Due to its lower sensitivity to oxidation compared to iron (II) sulphate and the consequent purer displayability, it is used to adjust potassium permanganate standard solutions.
