The Ammonoosuc River is a left tributary of the Connecticut River in the US state of New Hampshire .
The Ammonoosuc River has its origin in the Lakes of the Clouds on the western slope of Mount Washington in the White Mountains . The Mount Washington Cog Railway runs along its upper reaches to Bretton Woods . The Ammonoosuc flows further west through the Town of Carroll to Bethlehem Junction . It then turns north and flows to Littleton , after which it flows south-west by Lisbon and Bath and finally flows into the Connecticut River at Woodsville in the Town of Haverhill . Major tributaries are the Little River , Gale River, and Wild Ammonoosuc River . The Ammonoosuc River has a length of about 96 km. Its catchment area covers 1011 km².
