Amphoe Kabang ( Thai : อำเภอ กา บัง ) is the westernmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of Yala Province . The province of Yala is located in the extreme south of the southern region of Thailand on the border with Malaysia.

geography

Neighboring counties and areas are (clockwise from northwest): Saba Yoi district in Songkhla Province and Yaha district in Yala Province. To the south is the state of Kedah of Malaysia .

history

The name Kabang is a Thai adaptation of "Kabae" or "Kabe", the original Malay name. "Kabae" or "Kabe" is a type of rambutan tree.

Kabang was initially set up as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) on April 1, 1991 , by separating the area of today's district from Amphoe Yaha . On October 11, 1997, Kabang was granted full amphoe status.

Local administration

There are no cities ( thesaban ) in the district. Each of the two tambon is administered by a " Tambon Administrative Organization " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organization, TAO).
