Amphoe Raman ( Thai : อำเภอ รามัน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the northeast of the Yala Province . The province of Yala is located in the extreme south of the southern region of Thailand on the border with Malaysia.

Adjacent counties and areas are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Yarang , Thung Yang Daeng and Kapho of Pattani province , the Amphoe Bacho and Rueso of Narathiwat province and Amphoe Bannang Sata , Krong Pinang and Mueang Yala Yala province.

history

The name Raman is a Thai adaptation of "Reman", the original Malay name ( Jawi : رمان ). When there was a series of uprisings against Siamese rule in the early 19th century , seven cities ( mueang ) were separated from the Kingdom of Pattani in order to reduce the power of the Sultan of Pattani. Mueang Raman was one of those cities. Raman was called Kota Baru between 1917 and 1938 , after the seat of the local administration. Subsequently, the amphoe was renamed Raman.

Attractions

About 19 km from the city ​​of Yala is the waterfall Bu Ke Pilo (also Tawan Ratsami, น้ำตก บู เก๊ะ ปิ โลห รือ น้ำตก ตะวัน รัศมี ), which shows the rocks under the water bright yellow in intense sunlight.

There are three small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:

  • Mueang Raman ( เทศบาล ตำบล เมือง รามัน ห์ ) consists of parts of the tambon Kayu Boko,
  • Kota Baru ( เทศบาล ตำบล โกตาบารู ) consists of the entire Tambon Kota Baru.
  • Balo ( เทศบาล ตำบล บาล อ ) consists of the entire tambon balo.

There are also 14 “Tambon Administrative Organizations ” ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO) for the Tambon or the parts of Tambon in the county that do not belong to any city.
