Amphoe Mueang Yala ( Thai : อำเภอ เมือง ยะลา ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Yala . The province of Yala is located in the extreme south of the southern region of Thailand on the border with Malaysia .

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Khok Pho , Mae Lan and Yarang of Pattani province , the Amphoe Raman , Krong Pinang and Yaha Yala province and Amphoe Saba Yoi of Songkhla province .

history

Originally the district was only known under the name Mueang . It was renamed Sateng - after the central tambon - in 1917 . From 1938 it was called Mueang Yala to match the scheme for naming the central amphoe of a province.

The big city ( Thesaban Nakhon ) Yala includes the entire Tambon Sateng.

Lam Mai is a small town ( Thesaban Tambon ) , it consists of parts of the Tambon Lam Mai.

There are also 11 “Tambon Administrative Organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
