Amphoe Mae Lan ( Thai : อำเภอ แม่ ลาน ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in Pattani Province . The Pattani Province is located in the southeast of the southern region of Thailand on the Gulf of Thailand .

Neighboring counties and areas are (clockwise from west): Amphoe Khok Pho , Nong Chik and Yarang in Pattani Province and Amphoe Mueang Yala in Yala Province .
history
Mae Lan was initially set up as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) on April 1, 1989 by separating three tambon from the Amphoe Khok Pho . On September 7, 1995, Mae Lan received full Amphoe status.

Amphoe Mae Lan is divided into three subdistricts ( tambon ) , which are further subdivided into 22 village communities ( muban ) .
