Amphoe Sai Buri ( Thai อำเภอ สายบุรี ) is a district ( amphoe ) in Pattani Province . The Pattani Province is located in the southeast of the southern region of Thailand on the Gulf of Thailand .
The local Malays call the Teluban district - that's also the name of a small town in the district - or Selinde Bayu , the Malay word for "wind protection" from Sanskrit .

Neighboring districts are (from the southeast clockwise): Amphoe May Kaen province Pattani, Amphoe Bacho of Narathiwat province and Amphoe Kapho , Thung Yang Daeng , Mayo and Panare again in Pattani. To the east lies the Gulf of Thailand .
Parts of the Prasat Nang Phomhom Forest Park ( Thai วนอุทยาน ปราสาท นาง ผม หอม , RTGS Won Utthayan Prasat Nang Phomhom ) are in the west of the district. A small waterfall in the park is best to visit in November and December.
history
Sai Buri was one of the seven Mueang into which the Sultanate of Pattani was divided around 1810 . During the thesaphiban administrative reform at the beginning of the 20th century, it was elevated to a province of Monthon Pattani. In 1909 the area of the province was slightly reduced by Yi-Ngo and today's Mueang Narathiwat were subordinated to the Mueang Bang Nara, which corresponds to today's Narathiwat. In 1932 the province was dissolved. Its northern half was assigned to the Pattani Province, the southern half Narathiwat.
Sai Buri was renamed ตะ ลุ บัน Taluban in 1917 , but got its old name สายบุรี Sai Buri again in 1938 .

Local administration
There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:
- Taluban ( เทศบาล ตำบล ตะ ลุ บัน ) consists of the entire tambon Taluban.
- Tro Bon ( เทศบาล ตำบล เต ราะ บอน ) consists of the entire tambon Tro Bon and the entire tambon Thung Khla.
The other eight tambon are each administered by a “tambon administration organization” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
