Amphoe Sai Mun (in Thai อำเภอ ทรายมูล ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Yasothon . The province of Yasothon is located in the eastern part of the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from northeast): the Amphoe Kut Chum and Mueang Yasothon in the province of Yasothon, and Amphoe Selaphum in the province of Roi Et .

history

Sai Mun used to be a village in Amphoe Yasothon when it was still part of Ubon Ratchathani Province . During the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) , the location of the village was moved about two kilometers away due to an epidemic.

Sai Mun later received tambon status and in 1968 the sanitary district (khet sukhaphiban) Sai Mun was established.

When Yasothon became an independent province in 1972, Sai Mun received a "branch circle" status ( King Amphoe ) . Four tambon Sai Mun, Du Lat, Dong Mafai and Na Wiang were removed from the Amphoe Mueang Yasothon.

In 1978, Tambon Phai from Amphoe Kut Chum was assigned to King Amphoe Sai Mun. On July 26, 1984, the minor district was upgraded to an amphoe, and on May 25, 1999 the sanitary district of Sai Mun was upgraded to a small town ( Thesaban Tambon ) .

Sai Mun County is divided into five tambon ("subdistricts" or "parishes"), which are further subdivided into 53 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Na Wiang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา เวียง ), consisting of the whole tambon Na Wiang.
  • Sai Mun (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ทรายมูล ), consisting of parts of the tambon Sai Mun.

There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):

  • Sai Mun (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ทรายมูล )
  • Du Lat (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ดู่ ลาด )
  • Dong Mafai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ดง มะไฟ )
  • Phai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ไผ่ )
