coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on May 9, 1969.
Blazon : "In blue, a bareheaded knight with golden armor in front view, who cuts through his red-lined golden cloak with a silver sword under the angled left arm (St. Martin)."
With the figure of Saint Martin, the coat of arms of the Tellingstedt office draws on the historical seal of the parish of the same name. The parish of Tellingstedt was one of the four oldest in the state of Dithmarschen. In contrast to the usual illustrations, in the official coat of arms the saint is not depicted on horseback and without the figure of the beggar explaining his actions. The medieval seal of the parish does not show him as a Roman soldier, but as the head of the Christian community of Tours in bishop's robe. In the early modern times, the saint in the parish seal was replaced by the Mother of God with the boy Jesus.
The coat of arms was designed by the Brunsbüttel heraldist Willy "Horsa" Lippert .
flag
The flag was approved on July 13, 1989.
