The Meschede office is an administrative district that briefly existed in Hesse around 1810. In 1829 it was re-established on a smaller scale in the province of Westphalia and existed in various forms until December 31, 1974.

history

On September 22nd, 1807, a law to redistribute the duchy into 18 offices came into force. There was one judicial officer per office, who had to reside at the place of office, or at least in the district, and was responsible to the government. The cities had been fully incorporated into the jurisdiction at the latest since 1809. At the time, the Meschede, Calle and Remblinghausen courts, as well as the Eversberg freedom and the Velmede parish, were part of the Meschede district . In total, the office comprised 15 districts.

When the Duchy was taken over by the Prussians in 1816, the old offices lost their previous functions. In 1829 the new Meschede office was created from the town and parish of Meschede and the districts of Drasenbeck , Remblinghausen , Calle and Stockhausen . The next largest administrative unit was the Meschede district . Mid-19th century the community was Meschede country formed from the parish Meschede without the city, and this for the places and living quarters Berghausen , Enste , Ensthof , Galilee , Heggen , Hellern , Immenhausen, Laer , Löttmaringhausen and Schederberge .

In 1961 the office had a population of 19,363 people in an area of 161.60 km². When the official association was dissolved on December 31, 1974, the entire administrative area fell to the enlarged city of Meschede.
