The Office of the Lower Austrian provincial government is the highest administrative body in the federal state of Lower Austria , largely based in the Landhaus St. Pölten . Parts of it are also incorporated in their own offices or district authorities in Lower Austria.

Basics

The office as such is not an authority , but an administrative auxiliary apparatus of the Lower Austrian provincial government .

It is run by a state office director , currently Werner Trock . According to Art. 106 of the Federal Constitutional Law (B-VG), the State Office Director must be a legally qualified employee of the Office of the State Government and must at least be entrusted with the management of the internal service.

With 2,686 posts in 2015, the office of the Lower Austrian state government is one of the largest employers in St. Pölten.

The fire department and civil protection department is located in Tulln an der Donau , where the Lower Austrian Fire Brigade Association and the Lower Austrian Fire Brigade School are also located.

The agricultural education department is also located in Tulln, the foundation administration department in Vienna's 1st district (Inner City) .

Palais Niederösterreich in Herrengasse

Until 1997 the office was located in the Palais Niederösterreich in Vienna, only then did it move to St. Pölten, which was declared the new capital of the country in 1986.
