The Altena District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of the nine district courts in the district of the Hagen District Court . The Altena District Court has 5 judges.

Seat and District of the Court

The court is based in Altena in the Märkisches Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia . Almost 54,000 people live in the approximately 160 km² judicial district , which includes the cities of Altena, Neuenrade and Werdohl and the municipality of Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde .

As a lay judge , the Altena district court is also responsible for the city of Plettenberg and the municipality of Herscheid .

The trade , cooperative and association register for the district of the Altena District Court is kept at the Iserlohn District Court . For reminders and insolvency proceedings is Hagen District Court jurisdiction. The duties of the Agricultural Court and detention items from the judicial district are assigned to the Lüdenscheid District Court .

The court, which was previously housed in the old town hall, moved into the current building in 1889 in Richterstraße. 10, which was completely renovated in 2004 and is a listed building.

history

Altena already had its own jurisdiction in the 14th century. In 1753 a district court was established, which was dissolved again in 1812. With the Royal Prussian District Court Commission Altena , the place remained the seat of the court. The district court was established on October 1st, 1879.

The district court of Hagen is directly superior . The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court Hamm .
