Building history

The construction of the official building began in 1853 with the rear part of the building as a police prison . The front part of the building followed in 1865 as a district court. To this day, the district court is housed in this building at Rechtsstrasse 6 .

The working conditions of the officials improved in 1892 with the construction of a single-storey connecting wing between the two parts of the building, which was given an additional floor in 1901. In 1920 the attic of both the connecting building and the police prison were expanded.

At the end of 1966 the police prison was closed.

The rooms, which were heated with cannon stoves until 1976 , were replaced by a more modern heating system.

From 1977 to 1983 the building was rebuilt several times. Among other things, the district court was expanded to include the prison building, which has been closed since 1966.

A new building or a fundamental renovation has been under discussion for several decades.
