The Köthener district court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction in the district of the Dessau-Roßlau district court and thus one of 25 district courts in the state of Saxony-Anhalt .

history

The district court was housed in Köthen Castle since 1847 after the Anhalt-Köthen line died out. Leopold IV. Friedrich inherited the castle and set up the district management and the building administration here - in addition to the district court. A prison building was erected on the east side of the palace and demolished in 1991.

After 1991, the Lüneburg District Court provided support for the newly established Köthen District Court.

The joint dunning court Aschersleben is responsible for dunning matters.

The AG Köthen reports directly to the Dessau-Roßlau Regional Court . The competent higher regional court is the OLG Naumburg . The highest court is the Federal Court of Justice .
