An Autumn for Crippled Children is a post-black metal band from Friesland, the Netherlands, founded in 2008 .

history

An Autumn for Crippled Children was founded in 2008 in Friesland and consists of the musicians MXM, TXT and CXC. There is no information on the band's activities prior to the release of the debut album Lost in May 2010. The musicians play or played in various bands, but these are kept secret by the musicians. After the musicians had uploaded several tracks to the MySpace platform , the label Aeternitas Tenebrarum Music Foundation signed the band, making it unnecessary to publish a demo.

The musicians use pseudonyms because they want to avoid crossbreeding with the other bands in which they are still active.

style

At Autumn for Crippled Children, Depressive Black Metal first played . The band has since left this genre and plays Post-Black-Metal with influences from Doom Rock, Shoegazing and Post-Rock in the style of My Dying Bride , Anathema , Joy Division and The Cure .

The songs on the debut album Lost describe different forms of loss: the loss of life , hope , perspective and joy . Singer MXM said in an interview that the music of An Autumn for Crippled Children should create emotions and the lyrics are written on a personal basis. MXM itself suffers from depression , but in his opinion melancholy and depression are not the same thing. The music on Lost is reminiscent of groups like Amesoeurs , Wolves in the Throne Room and is described as a "dark version of Alcest ", with MXM calling Alcest "gay". On the newer works, the musicians work with depressive themes, but the new songs also have positive moments.

The group's music is said to be "spherical". The musicians also work increasingly with the influences of post-hardcore .

Band name

The band name comes from a song by the British band Ebony Lake . The musicians chose the name because the musicians liked the image this name produced. In a list of the 20 worst band names with excess length by the Terrorizer , An Autumn for Crippled Children was voted 18th.
