Anais Granofsky

Anais Granofsky (born May 14, 1973 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress , film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life and accomplishments

Anais Granofsky has an African-American mother and a Russian- Jewish- Canadian father. She is the older sister of actress Lea-Helen Weir. From the age of nine, she played the role of Lucy Fernandez in the television series Degrassi Junior High . In 1990 Granofsky was nominated together with others for this series at the Young Artist Award . She played a small supporting role as an office worker in the thriller Deceived (1991) by director Damian Harris with Goldie Hawn in the lead role. To learn directing and screenwriting, she attended New York University for four years and then returned to Toronto. Granofsky starred as Carla in eight episodes of the first two seasons in the dramatic agent series Nikita . She was the neighbor and friend of the main character, played by Peta Wilson , before Carla's real identity as an agent was revealed. Granofsky had a minor supporting role in the comedy A Date for Three (1999) with Matthew Perry . At the beginning of her career, she mainly appeared in television series. In recent years she has preferred to work as a film director, screenwriter and film producer in independent films .
