Three to Tango ( Three to Tango ) is an American comedy film from the year 1999 .

action

The entrepreneur Charles Newman is negotiating a major contract with the architects Oscar Novak and Peter Steinberg. Newman mistakenly thinks Novak is homosexual and Steinberg is straight, when in truth it is exactly the opposite. He asks him to take care of his lover Amy Post, with whom he is cheating on his wife.

Novak visits an art exhibition where he saves an overturned glass sculpture from destruction. He and Amy go out together. On the way, the engine of the taxi they are driving explodes. The dish eaten in a restaurant makes both Novak and Amy vomit.

Novak falls in love with the woman. Since he doesn't want to lose the job, he plays a homosexual man.

In the end, Novak was voted Gay Businessman of the Year . In his acceptance speech, he admits to the media that he is not gay at all. Newman dismisses Novak and Steinberg. Amy beats Oscar and - a little later - Charles. Peter says he's proud of Oscar and has a date with an African American .

Oscar meets Amy in a restaurant, who forgives him. Charles Newman's wife tells him to hire Novak and Steinberg after all. Then Charles should put on a thong.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the last 15 minutes were "unfortunate" and not very intelligent. He also wrote that Matthew Perry and Neve Campbell would make a "nice" couple on screen. Berardinelli praised the portrayal of Oliver Platt and criticized the "uncharismatic" portrayal of Dylan McDermott.

Roger Ebert praised the portrayal of Neve Campbell in the Chicago Sun-Times of October 22, 1999.
