Kelly Rowan (* 26. October 1965 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian film and series actress and a former model . She got better acquainted with her role as Kirsten Cohen in the hit series OC, California .

Career

Kelly Rowan grew up in Toronto . She attended Northern Secondary School and studied English at the University of Western Ontario, but dropped out to pursue her acting career. At the age of 19 she got her first minor roles on Canadian television, meanwhile she worked successfully as a model to pay her bills.

Kelly Rowan left Canada in 1990 and moved to Los Angeles , where she took acting lessons and was soon hired for her first American roles. At first she played smaller roles, for example in the television series Dallas (1991) or in Hook (1991), where she played the mother of Peter Pan. Nevertheless, she continued to work in Canada and had guest appearances in series such as The Outer Limits (1995) or The DaVinci Inquest (1998). For the Canadian film Adrift (1994) she received a Gemini Award for best actress from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television . She has since made more than 20 films, including Candyman 2 - The Blood Revenge (1995), Assassins - The Killer (1997), 187 - A Deadly Number (1997) and Proximity - Outside the Law (2001). In 2000 she stood with Melinda Clarke , her future colleague at OC, California , for an episode of the series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in front of the camera. In 2002 Rowan had a role in Boomtown , where she played the wife of Neal McDonough's detective.
