action

Taylor Hillridge is a 16-year-old high school girl who received a laptop from her mother for her birthday. Her two friends Samantha Caldone and Cheyenne Mortenson hang out with her a lot at the computer and keep track of who's replying to her chat posts. One day, Taylor notices that her account has been hacked and the hacker is spreading bad rumors about her, and she starts chatting with a stranger named James, who then spreads lies about her as well. From the next day she is the outsider and nobody wants to mess with her anymore, even her two friends (Cheyenne Mortenson first) let her fall in public.

Internet bullying went so far that Taylor posted a suicide announcement video online. When Samantha Caldone notices this, she runs to her and finds her in the bathroom, where she and Taylor's mother can stop her from killing themselves. From now on she stands by her friend again. Her mother Kris Hillridge turns on the police to find the culprit. Since this tells her that there is little chance of success, she tracks it down herself with the help of a reporter and finds it, it's Lindsay Fordycee. She wants to confront her, but Lindsay does not admit what she is doing. Samantha then confesses to her best friend that she pretended to be "James" online because she was mad at Taylor.

Taylor Hillridge lets herself be persuaded to join a support group, and encouraged by the headmaster Wasnay, she regains the confidence to return to school. Samantha is now abused by the other classmates online just as it happened to Taylor before. The two get closer again and at school she and Samantha announce resolutely that they don't care what is said about them on the web. And suddenly almost everyone takes their side and Lindsay Fordycee is speechless.
