Anastasia Platonowna Sujewa ( Russian Анастасия Платоновна Зуева ; born December 5 . Jul / 17th December  1896 greg. In Spasskoye, Tula Governorate , † 23. March 1986 in Moscow ) was a Russian theater and film actress .

Life

Sujewa played at the Moscow Art Theater (MChT; the later Moscow Academic Art Theater MChAT) under Konstantin Stanislawski since 1924, and since 1924 she has been part of the ensemble of the main stage. Even then she was committed to the role of a simple Russian mother or grandmother; as Matrona Pavlova in the stage adaptation of Tolstoy's Resurrection . Since 1932 she was also seen in films; Among other things, she played leading roles in works by Wassili Schukschin and Leonid Trauberg .

She became known to a younger audience through her recurring role as a narrative grandmother in the late fairy tale films Alexander Rous ( Father Frost , 1964; Fire, Water and Trumpets , 1968; The Beautiful Varvara , 1969; The Deer with the Golden Antlers , 1971).

In 1952 Sujeva received the State Prize of the USSR , in 1957 the People's Artist of the USSR award .
