The Ance (in the upper reaches: Aigue d'Ance ) is a river in France that runs through the regions of Occitania and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes . It rises in the Margeride countryside , in the municipality of La Panouse , generally drains north and flows into the Allier as a left tributary after 40 kilometers in Monistrol-d'Allier . On its way, the Ance crosses the Lozère and Haute-Loire departments .
