Anders Widmark (born November 25, 1963 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish jazz musician (piano, composition).

Widmark, who began playing the piano and improvising on this instrument at the age of seven, graduated from the Royal Stockholm Academy of Music in 1986. As one of the first in Sweden, in 1990 he began to fuse jazz with hip-hop and acid jazz . He has played with jazz musicians such as Bob Brookmeyer , Eddie Harris , Clark Terry , Nils Landgren and Egil Johansen and accompanied the Swedish singers Helen Sjöholm , Louise Hoffsten , Sara Isaksson , and Rebecka Törnqvist . He has also worked with Mikael Rickfors , Orphei Drängar , the Uppsala Choir Allmänna Sången , the Sundsvall Symphony Orchestra and Uppsala Kammarsolister.

Widmark hosted the television show Albums on SVT2 in the fall of 2005 . Widmark has released eleven records under his own name since 1990, including improvisations on psalms and hymns from the 16th century.

Prizes and awards

In 2001 Widmark received a grant from the Swedish authors' association Sveriges kompositörer och textförfattare . In 2003 he and Helen Sjöholm received a Grammis for the album Genom varje andetag . In 2005 he received the Jan Johansson Scholarship. In 2016 he and Allmänna Sången received a Grammi for the album Resonanser .
