Location of Andershof in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Andershof is a district in the south of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund with a population of 3,297 inhabitants and an area of 264.74ha. Until 1928 the place was independent and belonged to the Stralsund town villages. On October 1, 1928, Stralsund incorporated the city villages, Devin , Grünhufe, Andershof and Voigdehagen .

Until the district reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011, Andershof belonged to the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and, like the Hanseatic city, was independent. Since then the place belongs to the district of Vorpommern-Rügen .

The place Andershof was probably founded in the 13th century, like other Stralsund town villages. An exact date is not yet known. Andershof, like Zitterpenningshagen and Voigdehagen, was leased from the Stralsund Heilgeistkloster . Most of the historical sources also come from the Holy Spirit Monastery and can be researched in the Stralsund city archive .

history

Not much is known about the history of Andershof in the early days and in the Middle Ages , but from the 17th century the history of the place is very well documented in the Stralsund city archive . In Andershof, as in the other former Stralsund town villages, the farms and lands were leased by the monastery to the Holy Spirit. The oldest, verifiable lease to the tenant Gervinus Hasert goes back to 1623.

From 1640 onwards there was another documented lease from Andershof and Voigdehagen to Johann Horn and Jochim Böistehr. There are also references to war-related damage caused by Swedish and Imperial troops, which were taken into account in the lease.

In the years 1695/1696 the tenant Peter Rose brought a lawsuit against the provisional agents of the Kloster zum Heiligen Geist because of unfavorable lease conditions for Gut Andershoff (now: Andershof). A few years later, in the period between 1712 and 1759, in the place unauthorized oak felled. Swedish soldiers must also have been there. At that time there were repeated complaints on the estates and lands, including complaints to the government about the goats stolen by order of the public prosecutor in Devin and Andershof. At the end of the 18th century, the paths and bridges at Voigdehagen , Andershof, Negast , Langendorf and behind the Köpfberg (now: Köppenberg) were repaired.

In the period from 1837 to 1840 fire engines were purchased for the Voigdehagen parish in Andershof. In 1877 a fish farm is built in Andershof. In the fish facility, fish were also sold for rearing. In 1890 it was decided that the local trains running in the opposite direction between Stralsund and Greifswald would stop after Andershof at the caretaker's hut between Devin and Voigdehagen as required.

At the beginning of the 20th century there is a mission festival for the parishes Voigdehagen , Andershof, Niederhof and others in Devin . Between 1927 and 1936 a water cooperative was formed for the drainage of arable land in the districts of Alt-Zarrendorf and Neu-Zarrendorf (from 1935 Zarrendorf ), Andershof and Zitterpenningshagen .

On October 1st, 1928, Andershof lost its independence and was incorporated into Stralsund. In addition to the Holy Spirit Monastery, the Johanniskloster in Stralsund in Andershof must also have been involved at that time, because in 1934 the property on Greifswalder Chaussee 50d belonging to the Johanniskloster was sold to the railway worker Hermann Frank from Andershof for the construction of a semi-detached house on Voigdehäger Path.

In the time of National Socialism between 1937 and 1941, land was expropriated in Andershof because of the construction of barracks for the 1st Flak Department of the Flak Training Regiment and in the Franconian suburb to build the railway connection curve and to expand the Rügen dam station .

Since 1945, the goods in Andershof and the other former town villages have no longer been leased to the Holy Spirit Monastery in Stralsund. The tenants were expropriated and often driven out in the course of the land reform in the former Soviet occupation zone . The farms, fields and lands were later assigned to the so-called agricultural production cooperatives, which administered them.

On January 27, 1945, the Schwedenschanze , Franken and Andershof barracks were handed over to the city. (Planned use to accommodate resettlers, the homeless , commercial and industrial companies and cultural institutions) Furthermore, the removal of all kinds of material is prohibited. From 1950 the former manor house in Andershof was converted into an 8-class elementary school . During the GDR era, in 1958, it was decided to build a pig fattening house for 200 animals for the VEB (K) fattening of slaughter cattle Stralsund-Andershof. In May 1961 the dairy is opened in Andershof and in 1974 the new 600 square meter sports hall for the Ernst Thälmann High School in Andershof is handed over.

After the fall of the Wall, the place changed a lot, with many residential units and commercial areas emerging. Already in 1990 the PGH of the building trade "Progress" in Stralsund-Andershof dissolved and in 1991 a modern construction discount store opened its doors on Greifswalder Chaussee. In July 2009 a clinic for dementia patients will be opened.

Andershof Manor

The Andershof manor is a two-storey building with a small corner tower. The place Andershof, which was independent until October 1st, 1928 and was only then incorporated by the Hanseatic City of Stralsund, was administered from this farm. On April 20, 1928, a lease was signed between Dr. Reinhold Riehn and Dr. Christoph Schütte closed. From June 1929 Franz Schütte took over the estate as a housekeeper. Christoph Schütte remained the tenant and from June 1931 his widow Hedwig Schütte took over the lease. After 1932 Hedwig Schütte acquired the property, she remained the owner until it was evicted in 1945. The manor house was used as a school from 1950 to 1960, and later an LPG office moved here. One room was used for cultural events, otherwise mainly apartments were furnished here. Even today the building is used for residential purposes. The former estate no longer exists, and the farm buildings (apart from a stable and a syringe house) have not been preserved either. The farm workers' houses along the former driveway are a reminder of life and work on the estate. A few older trees and the village pond bear witness to a formerly existing park, which was accessed via a flight of stairs on the left side of the building. Today there is a new block here.
