Career

Rauschmeier competed in his first World Cup competition on January 3, 1988 in Innsbruck , but was only 105th and last. Even in Bischofshofen three days later he could not achieve success with 73rd place. At the Junior World Championship in Saalfelden in 1988 , he won the gold medal in team jumping. The first competitions of the 1989/90 World Cup season were also less successful for Rauschmeier. It was not until January 14, 1989 that he surprisingly reached fourth place in Liberec and thus won his first World Cup points. Also in Harrachov a day later he won two World Cup points in 14th place. In the Junior World Championship 1989 in Norway Vang he won behind Kent Johanssen the silver medal on the normal hill and could also win the team as last year the gold medal. After jumping into the points again with 11th place at the end of the season in Planica, he was able to finish the 1989/90 World Cup season in 37th place in the overall standings. In the following season 1990/91 he succeeded with a 3rd place in Engelberg for the first time and last time the jump on the podium. Before that he had achieved varying results in the World Cup competitions and only rarely jumped into the points. He ended his most successful World Cup season in 1990/91 in 28th place in the overall World Cup standings. After he could not repeat his positive results in the following two years and only finished two of 15 World Cup competitions within the points, he jumped in the Continental Cup (COC) from 1991 . In his first season in 1991/92 he was able to win the Continental Cup with 175 points overall. His second season was no less successful, but despite 296 points he was only able to occupy 18th place in the overall ranking due to the new rating system. In his last season in 1994/95 he only came in 84th place in the overall standings, whereupon he ended his active ski jumping career.
