André Jaeger

André Jaeger (born February 12, 1947 in Rümikon ) is a Swiss chef and entrepreneur .

Life

André Jaeger grew up as the son of a host couple and completed a three-year cooking apprenticeship in the traditional Hotel Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne as well as a service internship at the Dorchester Hotel in London and an administration and reception internship at the Hotel Eden au Lac in Lugano . After completing his apprenticeship, André Jaeger attended the hotel management school in Lausanne from 1965 .

In 1971 he became Food and Beverage Manager ( catering manager ) in the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong . The years in Asia had a formative influence on André Jaeger, which later made him one of the masterminds and cooks of an East-Western cuisine that consciously plays with flavors.

After returning to Switzerland in 1981, he bought his father's business, the Fischerzunft hotel and restaurant in Schaffhausen . The renovation and transformation of the hotel and restaurant into a luxury business was also linked to André Jaeger's rise to top chef, which earned him the Gault-Millau Chef of the Year award twice . André Jaeger has been rated 19 points by Gault Millau since 1995. In 2010 he was named Chef of the Year in Switzerland in the Bertelsmann Guide . At the end of June 2015, Jaeger closed the fishing guild after 40 years and retired.

From December 2017 to January 6, 2018, he will represent the focus gourmet restaurant at the Park Hotel Vitznau.
