André Schneider (actor)
André Marc Schneider (born March 10, 1978 in Hildesheim ) is a German actor and filmmaker .
Life
André Schneider grew up in Hildesheim and Christchurch in England. In London he attended school and received dance lessons. From 1990 he played theater roles in Hildesheim and from 1992 first roles in short films, including An American in Hildesheim (1994) and Tagtraum (1995), for which he also wrote the screenplay.
In 1997 he appeared in Hanover with the solo program Holocaust: André Schneider reads Paul Celan and in several cities with the chanson program Sleepless Cities , which was also released as a CD limited to 100 copies.
In 1998 he passed his Abitur and from 1999 studied Indian art history, Indian philology and modern history at the Free University of Berlin . He also took acting lessons and began his career as a stand-up comedian in England and Ireland . He is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
In 2003 he founded the production company Vivàsvan Pictures , which produced Deed Poll , Half Past Ten and Alex and the Lion , among others .
In 2012 he was the first German to be invited as a guest of honor at the French-speaking Dunas Festival in Gran Canaria . He presented his first French feature film Le deuxième commencement there. In 2013 he published the first detailed biography of actress Marisa Mell with Die Feuerblume . He shot the thriller One Deep Breath (2014) in Paris . He played the leading role in the French production Sur les traces de ma mère (2016). Schneider worked with Alexandre Vallès on Vol. Voltaire (2017), a drama that filmed the attacks in Paris . In 2017 he played again under Antony Hickling's direction in Frig (based on the novel Die 120 Tage von Sodom ). In 2018, the psychological horror film Les Fantômes (director: Alexandre Vallès) appeared with him in the lead role.
Schneider is also a writer . From 2013 to 2015 he wrote regularly for the magazine Männer , in autumn 2014 also for the magazine Séparée . He has been writing film reviews for the website italo-cinema.de since 2016.
Schneider lives in Berlin and Paris.
