Andreas Diermair (born September 29, 1986 in Deutschlandsberg ) is an Austrian chess player .

Life

Andreas Diermair studied at the Montan University Leoben .

Successes in chess

He won several medals at the Austrian state championships : in 2006 he was third in Köflach , in 2011 in Linz second behind Georg Fröwis and in 2013 in Feldkirch-Gisingen again third. In 2017 he became national champion in Graz for the first time. At the 2012 European Championships in Plovdiv , Diermair was the second best Austrian behind Markus Ragger .

He played for the Austrian national team at the Mitropa Cups in 2007 and from 2011 to 2016. In 2007 in Merlimont , France , Austria achieved the bronze medal with Andreas Diermair on the third board, he had an Elo performance of 2577. In 2015, he won the 2015 in Mayrhofen with Austria Competition. At the 2013 European Team Championships in Warsaw he played for Austria on the reserve board, also at the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø .

In club chess , Andreas Diermair has been a member of the Frauental chess club since 1996 . In the Austrian Federal Chess League he played in the seasons 2005/06 , 2006/07 and 2008/09 for the SK MPÖ Maria Saal and since 2011/12 for the SV Rapid Feffernitz , with whom he also participated in the European Club Cup 2015 and the Austrian Chess Bundesliga won in 2016/17 and 2018/19 .

The title of International Master was requested for him for June 2007. He had achieved the first IM norm at the 30th Elekes Memorial in May 2005, an IM tournament in Budapest , the second norm at his third place in the Austrian state championship in September 2006 and the third with overachievement in the Austrian Chess League 2006/07 . However, he had not yet reached the required Elo rating of 2400. Although he only exceeded this after the release date in May 2011, thanks to a high interim ranking he was able to receive the title in August 2008 as the seventh player from Styria . In July 2018 he was awarded the title of Grand Master .

Success in Shogi

In the Shogi he is the bearer of the 1st Kyu . In September 2011, he took third place at the Austria Open in Graz .
