Party political activity

In 2001 he ran for the office of district administrator of the Burgenlandkreis and the mayor of Laucha and received 3.6 and 5.6 percent of the valid votes. On February 23 of the following year, he was initially replaced by Frank Kerkhoff, and on October 26, in the presence of the NPD federal chairman Udo Voigt and the then general secretary Ulrich Eigenfeld, he was reappointed state chairman. In 2003 he was in 17th place on the NPD list for the European elections. Karl has been a member of the Burgenland District Council for the NPD since 2004 . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he was ranked second on the DVU state list as an NPD candidate. In constituency 47 (Burgenland) he obtained a first vote result of 4.7 percent as a direct candidate. In March 2006 he ran unsuccessfully in fourth place on the state list of the DVU in the state elections. In the election of the mayor in Halle / Saale on November 2, 2006, Karl stood as a candidate and received 1.74 percent of the vote. At the NPD state party conference on December 2, 2006 in Weddersleben ( Harz district ) he was confirmed as head of the state.

Karl appeared as a speaker several times at demonstrations by the NPD and Free Comradeships. B. 2001 in Halle together with Holger Apfel , 2002 in Merseburg, 2004 in Weißenfels or 2006 in Bitterfeld. Karl openly advocates cooperation with other right-wing extremist parties such as the DVU and the neo-Nazi Free Comradeships . At the state party conference in 2006 it was decided that with immediate effect in the “public part” of the NPD state board meetings a representative of the so-called “Free Forces” - another name for the often violent comradeship activists or “Free Nationalists” - has the right to speak. Furthermore, the current state executive committee was called upon by the party congress to "definitely strengthen the popular front with the free forces". A clear signal was also given by the speech by a leading representative of the "Comradeship for the Fortress City of Magdeburg" during the state party conference, who also expressed himself on the "importance of the popular front idea".

In 2007, Karl ran again as a district administrator in the local elections in the Burgenland district. He was also the top candidate of the NPD and led the relevant electoral list. He received 3,326 votes (5.1%). Due to his position on the NPD's electoral list, he again moved into the district council of the new district with the latter's 4.7% (3 seats).

Political self-view

In connection with investigations by the Halle public prosecutor's office into violating bankruptcy law , Karl caused a stir when he turned a bailiff away with the remark that he was not subject to the German judiciary but was a citizen of the German Reich. He later justified this behavior and made it clear that he was a supporter of the conspiracy theory of the Reich Citizens' Movement .
