Andreas Koop (* 1970 in Sonthofen ) is a German graphic artist and author.

Life

Andreas Koop obtained his diploma as an information designer at the sfg Ravensburg . In the years 2007 to 2009 he obtained the postgraduate master's (MAS) at the Institute Design2contex with Ruedi Baur at the Zurich University of the Arts as part of a research project . Since 1995 he has headed the design group koop in Rückholz in the Allgäu. His work includes visual appearances and spatial concepts ( scenography for museums, orientation and guidance systems and exhibitions) and classic graphic design tasks (brand and strategy development, editorial design, multimedia / interactive design etc.) for various universities, industrial companies, museums , Municipalities and districts. The focus is on an environmentally and value-conscious design approach. The work has received numerous national and international awards.

Since 2001 he has been teaching at various universities, for example the FHV in Dornbirn, the University of Augsburg and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University , and gives lectures on topics such as design research, sustainability and the political dimension of design. In 2015/2016, Andreas Koop was a member of the development team for the redesign of the intermedia bachelor's and master's degree at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences in Dornbirn. He is also a member of the jury at various international competitions, and for the first time in a jury outside of the field of design for the “Baukultur Community Prize”. In addition to his creative work, he is involved as an author and columnist - and moves in the field of tension between contemporary history, society, politics and design.

Andreas Koop is involved in various working groups on a voluntary basis:

  • He is a member of WEI SRAUM - the initiative for visual communication and design.
  • He heads the “Communication and Awareness Raising” working group for the “Inclusion Action Plan” of the Ostallgäu district .
  • He organizes and moderates (2015, 2017 and 2019) the transdisciplinary congress “Stadt.Land.Schluss”, which deals with the design of rural areas and cities.
  • He is a member of the decision-making committee (Ostallgäu district) on the decisions to fund projects within the framework of “LEADER 2014–2020” and
  • Member of the project advisory board for the “ Federal Ecodesign Award ”.

Another focus is design research. Andreas Koop is a member

  • the German Society for Design Theory and Research eV,
  • at designaustria and co-founder of the “Design Research” expert cluster,
  • at the Association of Exhibition Designers (VerA) and
  • at the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ). and
  • at the "Office for Political Beauty"
  • He has been a DIN-certified specialist planner for barrier-free construction since 2017.
