The Barse is a river in France that runs in the Aube department in the Grand Est region . It has its source in the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park , in the municipality of Vendeuvre-sur-Barse ; its source is here under the medieval castle. The Barse generally drains in a north-westerly direction and in its lower reaches reaches the flood protection and water supply system of the Seine around the lake Lac d'Orient , which is characterized by a multitude of artificial watercourses. The natural course of the Barse is in places no longer recognizable and so after a total of 50 kilometers it flows into the Seine at Saint-Parres-aux-Tertres , in the greater Troyes area , under the name Canal de Baires .
