Andreas from Gaudi

Andreas von Gaudi , also Gawdy or Gaudy (* 1613 , † 1665 ) was a Scottish major general in Brandenburg .

Life

Gaudi was a member of the Scottish noble family Gowdie of Craigmuie also Gaudie or Goldie from Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire .

He is very likely to be distinguished from the eponymous lieutenant colonel in the Swedish service in 1646 , who was also the commander of the Swedish troops in Neumarkt .

As a colonel, he was in the service of George II in Transylvania, where he haplessly commanded a troop made up of Germans and Hungarians . In 1643 he settled in Prussia and in 1650 acquired the Bündtken manor , later also Gericken. He advanced to major general in Prussian service and died in 1650.

From his marriage to Catherine of Murray, daughter of Colonel Jacob emerged from Murray family is expected to Prussian nobility.
