Andrei Jurjewitsch Strachow ( Russian Андрей Юрьевич Страхов , often Andrej Strakhov ; born November 17, 1978 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a German - Russian ice hockey player . In 2016 he was hired as the sporting director of the Hannover Scorpions from the ice hockey league . Due to injuries to the small squad, he continued his active career.
Career
Strachow began his career as a hockey player in Germany at EV Füssen , for whose professional team he made his debut in the second-class 1st League South in the 1995/96 season . The center then played for EHC Freiburg in the second German division for four years . He spent the 2000/01 season at Heilbronn EC in the 2nd Bundesliga . For the team he scored 53 points scorer in 52 games, including 26 goals, whereupon he received a contract with the Munich Barons from the German Ice Hockey League for the 2001/02 season . In the same season he also played in a game for SC Riessersee in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Following the resettlement of the Munich Barons to Hamburg and their renaming to Hamburg Freezers , Strachow signed a contract with the Augsburg Panthers , for which he was active in the DEL from 2002 to 2004. He then moved to the reigning German champions Frankfurt Lions , for whom he also played for two years. The 2006/07 season began the left-handed shooter at ERC Ingolstadt , but left it after 17 games without a scorer point and joined Amur Khabarovsk , for whom he was on the ice for a year in the Russian Super League . In the middle of the 2007/08 season , the German- Russian signed a contract with Chimik Voskressensk from the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division. With Chimik, he immediately succeeded as a second division champion in the newly founded Continental Hockey League .
In the 2008/09 season Strachow played 44 games for Chimik Woskressensk in the KHL. He scored seven goals and gave eight assists. Then the team had to withdraw for financial reasons in the Wysschaja Liga, in which he was also active the following season . For the 2010/11 season he returned to the DEL after three and a half years in Russia and accepted a contract offer from Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . At the beginning of July 2011 Strachow was committed by the Starbulls Rosenheim from the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga.
After 21 years as a professional, Strachow ended his career after the 2015/16 season and became the sporting director of the Hannover Scorpions , but returned to the ice after only half a year.
