Freedom Award

The Freedom Award is presented by the International Rescue Committee for exceptional contributions to the concerns of refugees and freedom .

The first Freedom Award was given to Willy Brandt in 1957 . Since then there have been 45 awardees, including 23 Americans; most of the recipients are politicians.

It was most recently awarded to human rights workers in 2014.
